BRS Demands Substantial Relief for Farmers Amid Crop Loss
The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has urged the Congress government in Telangana to provide ₹25,000 per acre as relief to farmers grappling with crop losses this season. Party leader T. Harish Rao highlighted the extensive crop damage, estimating losses on about 20 lakh acres due to water scarcity and adverse weather conditions.
Farmers recounted their struggles, with efforts to salvage crops through new borewells proving futile amidst groundwater depletion. Rao criticized the government’s failure to manage water resources effectively, accusing it of neglecting promises made to the farming community, exacerbating their distress. He warned of potential protests if the government delays providing relief, emphasizing the urgent need for support to alleviate farmers’ plight and prevent further tragedies.
