British Citizen and Lover Convicted for Murdering Husband in India
A local court in Shahjahanpur, India, has convicted a British citizen, Ramandeep Kaur Mann, and her lover, Gurpreet Singh, for the murder of her husband, Sukhjeet Singh, seven years ago. Ramandeep, a UK national, conspired with Gurpreet to kill her husband during a family vacation in Uttar Pradesh. The court based its verdict on the testimony of Ramandeep’s nine-year-old son, who survived the poisoning and described how his mother suffocated his father with a pillow and instructed Gurpreet to slit his throat.
The court convicted both defendants under IPC sections 302 (murder) and 34 (criminal acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) and will determine their punishment on October 7. Gurpreet arrested under section 4/25 of the Arms Act. The victim’s mother seeks capital punishment for both the accused.
