Brave Response to Moral Policing in Bengaluru Garners Appreciation

A young woman’s courage in the face of moral policing in Bengaluru has garnered widespread appreciation. The incident, which took place on Saturday, involved a youth obstructing a burqa-clad woman on a bike with a Hindu man, abusing her, and demanding she remove her burqa. The youth, identified as Jakir Ahamad, has been arrested and sent to judicial custody.

In a viral video on social media, the woman fearlessly challenges the accused, asking him who he is to question her. When he criticizes her for her choices, she retorts with determination. The woman’s bold stance against moral policing has sparked praise from various quarters. The accused had also made and circulated videos of the incident using vulgar language against the woman, which led to activists tagging the viral video to Bengaluru Police’s accounts.

The accused was promptly arrested within 24 hours and is now in judicial custody, facing charges under the Information Technology Act.
