Blockchain Technology Revolutionizes BBMP’s E-Khata System
The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has integrated blockchain technology into its e-Khata system to ensure secure, tamper-proof digital property records. With the support of the National Informatics Centre (NIC), this system leverages a decentralized chain of interconnected blocks, similar to cryptocurrency mechanisms, to store and verify data.
Each transaction is cross-verified across numerous nodes, making alterations nearly impossible. For example, fraudulent property mutations or downloads of e-khata by illegitimate owners are automatically flagged and blocked. This robust framework prevents manipulation, ensuring accuracy in property titles and sales. The redundancy of data across multiple blocks further protects against hacking, reinforcing trust and transparency in BBMP’s digital services.
