BJP Criticizes Opposition’s Stance on Ram Temple Invitations
The upcoming consecration of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, scheduled for January 22, has become a political issue, drawing criticism from opposition leaders. CPI (M) leader Brinda Karat announced that her party would skip the event, condemning the “politicization of a religious program.” Congress leader Kapil Sibal also declined the invitation, emphasizing that he carries Lord Ram in his heart and doesn’t need to attend the ceremony.
In response, Union Minister Meenakshi Lekhi defended the BJP’s stance, stating, “only those called by Lord Ram will come.” The BJP’s rivals, including the Left and Congress, face a delicate situation, balancing political considerations with potential repercussions on minority votes, particularly from the Muslim community. The Congress has yet to announce its stance on the invitations.
