The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Chennai branch, conducted a raid on an unauthorised bottling plant in Alamathi, near Sholavaram, seizing several litres of packaged drinking water on Wednesday.
During the raid, 33,463 bottles of various capacities filled with packaged drinking water were seized, along with 2.58 lakh labels bearing spurious ISI marks. The manufacturer did not possess a valid BIS license and was found to be in violation of the BIS Act 2016.
