Five officers from the Bengaluru Electricity Supply Company (Bescom) who were initially arrested after a woman and her infant died due to electrocution have been released on station bail, according to sources. The tragic incident occurred when 23-year-old Soundarya and her nine-month-old daughter, Suvikasha, stepped on a snapped electric wire while walking on the footpath near Hope Farm Junction on Whitefield Main Road.
The officers faced allegations of negligence, with claims that even an hour after the incident, authorities had not arrived at the scene. The Bescom officers have been suspended, and the government announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh for the family.
