Bengaluru Court Grants Bail to Udhayanidhi Stalin in Sanathana Dharma Remark Case

Tamil Nadu Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin was granted bail by a Bengaluru court on June 25 for his controversial statement regarding Sanatana Dharma. The court’s decision came after Udhayanidhi appeared before the 42nd Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate following a petition filed by social activist Paramesh.

The bail was secured with a surety of ₹1 lakh, considering the nature of the offence as bailable. Udhayanidhi, who serves as the state’s Minister of Sports and Youth Welfare and is the son of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, has also approached the Supreme Court to consolidate all cases filed against him nationwide for a unified hearing. His remarks, made at a Chennai conference in September 2023, sparked widespread criticism and led to legal actions in multiple states, including Bihar and Maharashtra.
