Bangladesh Battles Surge in Dengue Cases and Deaths
In the past 24 hours, Bangladesh has reported 2,711 new dengue cases and 12 fatalities, bringing the total caseload to 57,127 and the death toll to 273 since January, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). The country has seen a total of 47,529 recoveries, including 2,638 new recoveries on Wednesday, as reported by the Xinhua news agency, quoting the DGHS.
Last month, Bangladesh witnessed its highest spike in dengue cases, recording 43,854 new infections and 204 deaths. The June-September monsoon period poses a high risk of dengue fever in Bangladesh, making it susceptible to mosquito-borne diseases. Authorities remain vigilant to combat the outbreak’s impact on public health.
