Backlash Against Greater Chennai Corporation Mayor and MLA Over Cyclone Response

Mayor R. Priya of the Greater Chennai Corporation faced backlash from irate residents in Perambur as they demanded basic amenities, services restoration, and timely transportation of the deceased amid flooding caused by Cyclone Michaung. A video circulated on social media captured residents confronting the Mayor, insisting on the restoration of electricity and highlighting her responsibility as an elected official for the Perambur area.

The Mayor assured residents that electricity would be restored, and the regular supply of milk would resume soon. Meanwhile, Egmore MLA I. Paranthamen also faced criticism from residents in Pattalam and Pulianthope, questioning his absence during the flooding. The incidents reflect the frustration of residents and the pressure on officials to address the aftermath of the cyclone.
