Thirteen individuals have been arrested in connection with the attack on Telugu Desam Party (TDP) Chandragiri candidate Pulivarthi Venkata Mani Prasad (Nani) at Sri Padmavathi Mahila Viswa Vidyalayam (SPMVV) campus on May 14. The assailants targeted Nani’s car while he was inspecting the strongroom for Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), prompting his gunman to fire warning shots.
The arrested, hailing from Tirupati Rural, Ramachandrapuram, and Renigunta mandals, were apprehended swiftly by special police teams. Superintendent of Police Krishna Kanth Patel commended the efforts of the investigating officers and announced rewards for their prompt action in resolving the case within 24 hours, highlighting the department’s commitment to maintaining election integrity and safety.
