APCC President Sharmila Calls for Urgent Flood Response and Compensation
On July 25, APCC President Y.S. Sharmila publicly urged Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to declare a state emergency due to severe flooding in coastal districts. In her open letter, Sharmila criticized the government’s inadequate response and outdated drainage systems, which have led to extensive crop damage.
She emphasized the need for immediate compensation for affected farmers and swift measures to desilt drains and canals. Sharmila also condemned the lack of visible action from local officials and demanded a comprehensive assessment of the flood impact.
