The Regional Meteorological Centre in Chennai has forecasted light to moderate rain in most parts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal for the next three days. Heavy rainfall is expected at isolated locations in various districts on Thursday, including Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Madurai, Tirunelveli, and others.
According to S. Balachandran, the Additional Director General of Meteorology, a low-pressure system is likely to form over the south Andaman Sea by November 26, moving west-northwestwards and intensifying into a depression over the southeast Bay of Bengal and the adjoining Andaman Sea by November 27.
The meteorological authorities are closely monitoring these developments, and further updates will determine the potential impact on the weather in the region. In the past 24 hours, Tiruppur recorded the highest rainfall at 17 cm.
