Residents of Anna Nagar, facing recurring floods due to the Otteri Nullah overflow, urge authorities for more comprehensive short-term solutions. They highlight inadequate silt removal from storm-water drains (SWDs) and call for thorough desilting along entire stretches.
Additional access covers are requested for better SWD maintenance, and linking floodwater from neighboring areas to the Cooum River is proposed. The residents also stress the need for new SWDs on 30-feet and Avenue Roads to prevent flooding. Meanwhile, the Water Resources Department plans to clear silt and weeds from the Nullah in preparation for the northeast monsoon.
