Mamidi Srikanth, the chairman of the Andhra Pradesh Turpu Kapu Corporation, has urged the National Commission for Backward Classes Chairman, Hansraj Gangaram Ahir, to ensure that the Turpu Kapu community across the entire state of Andhra Pradesh is granted Other Backward Classes (OBC) status. Srikanth emphasized that confining reservation benefits to specific areas, particularly in North Andhra region, is causing injustice, as families of the Turpu Kapu community reside in all districts.
He highlighted the importance of OBC status for unemployed youth seeking jobs in Central Government, Railways, and Public Sector Units, particularly for upcoming national-level examinations like NEET and JEE Advanced. The chairman’s appeal aims to address the concerns of youngsters who face difficulties in accessing reservation benefits for their educational and employment prospects.
The AP State Turpu Kapu Employees Union’s State President, Balaga Malleswara Rao, announced plans for a delegation to meet the BC Commission in New Delhi to advocate for OBC status, particularly in light of the upcoming national-level examinations scheduled for March and April 2024.
