Andhra Pradesh Strengthens Commitment to Free Power for Farmers and Tribal Areas
Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar emphasized Andhra Pradesh’s dedication to enhancing the nine-hour free power supply scheme for the agricultural sector, aiming to boost profitability in farming. In a review meeting, he urged power utilities to prioritize consumer grievances and ensure full power coverage in tribal regions.
Special Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand highlighted ongoing efforts to support 23 lakh SC/ST electricity consumers, including plans for solar power in inaccessible tribal areas. Additionally, the state is implementing an underground cabling project in Visakhapatnam under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS), reflecting a comprehensive approach to improving power infrastructure and services.
