Members of the Andhra Pradesh Private Degree College Managements’ Association staged a rally to oppose the recent notification requiring permission from the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) to offer Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA), and Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS) courses.
College managements argue that AICTE’s move to take over these courses from the University Grants Commission and State universities will lead to serious financial crises for institutions. They highlight the different infrastructure and instructional facility requirements for science, arts, and the specified courses, asserting that complying with AICTE norms would demand significant investments.
The association also opposes the potential adverse impact on admissions and the multi-disciplinary approach outlined in the National Education Policy-2020, emphasizing the stringent norms set by the AICTE as a major challenge.
