Andhra Pradesh Establishes Special Court for Swift Justice in Rape Cases
The Andhra Pradesh government has set up a Special Court to expedite the trial of two recent rape cases involving young girls. Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu mandated the court’s formation to ensure quick justice.
Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha announced Rs. 10 lakh ex-gratia for the family of a girl allegedly raped and murdered in Nandhyal district, and ₹5 lakh compensation for a six-month-old victim of sexual harassment. The police have arrested multiple suspects in both cases, with investigations ongoing. The offenders were reportedly under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
