Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy is set to visit Uravakonda town in Anantapur district on January 23 to release the benefits of the YSR Asara scheme to women self-help groups (SHGs). Elaborate security arrangements have been made for the Chief Minister’s one-day visit, especially in light of protests by Anganwadi workers.
The Chief Minister’s visit holds significance amid dissidence among YSRCP cadres following recent shuffling of candidates for Lok Sabha and assembly constituencies in Anantapur and Hindupur. Tensions rose earlier when Anganwadi workers protested, blocking the convoy of Forest Minister P. Ramachandra Reddy, who was reviewing preparations for the Chief Minister’s visit. The police have tightened security measures for the event.
