AMMK Party Functionary Murdered in Chennai, Police Launch Special Teams for Culprit Search

The Nolambur police in Chennai have initiated the formation of special police teams to track down a gang responsible for the murder of Jagan, a party functionary of the AMMK (Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam), near Reddypalayam on the night of September 5, 2023. Jagan, who operated a fish shop in the area, was a native of Tiruvarur district and had recently shifted his allegiance from AIADMK to AMMK.

The victim had an ongoing dispute with an individual named Rajesh related to the installation of flex banners several years ago. In 2021, Rajesh was murdered by a gang, leading to Jagan’s arrest along with 11 others. Recently released on bail, Jagan had been residing in Nolambur, running a fish shop. The assailants, a gang of four individuals, used a knife from the shop to commit the murder before fleeing the scene.
