Allegations of Political Discrimination in Milk Procurement

Farmers in Somanahalli village near Hassan, Karnataka, protested in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office, alleging that the local milk producers’ cooperative society refused to accept milk from them because they allegedly voted for the Congress candidate in the Lok Sabha elections. The villagers accused the society, which they claim has affiliations with the JD(S), of discriminating against them based on their political preferences.

While the cooperative society denies any political bias in milk procurement, the protesters assert that political pressure from JD(S) leaders is influencing the society’s decisions. The Managing Director of Hassan Cooperative Milk Producers’ Society Union has promised to investigate the allegations, emphasizing that milk procurement should be impartial and not influenced by political affiliations.
