Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav reiterated his call for using ballot papers instead of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) during elections. Citing examples from developed countries like the United States, Japan, and Germany, Yadav emphasized the credibility of the ballot paper system. He questioned whether India should aspire to become stronger through trust or doubt, expressing concerns about the distrust created by EVMs.
Yadav announced the SP’s intention to push for a resolution in the Opposition INDIA bloc to remove EVMs from the election process, suggesting it would dislodge the BJP from power. The SP has consistently advocated for ballot papers, raising doubts about the reliability of EVMs.
