Consumers of Aavin milk in Tamil Nadu have raised concerns over the quality of the dairy’s products. Complaints include milk in sachets not reconstituting properly, curdling issues, and shorter shelf lives. Some consumers have reported dissatisfaction with the quality of curd made using Aavin milk.
While an Aavin official suggested that inadequate cold storage facilities at the retailer’s end might be the cause, consumer activists and some members of the Tamil Nadu Milk Dealers’ Employees’ Welfare Association argue that Aavin is struggling with procurement and that the state government should intervene to address these issues. The official noted that the reconstitution of milk, where butter and milk powder are mixed to ensure the correct fat and solids-not-fat content in each variant, has not been problematic.
