550 meters of hillock crashed, 7 were killed and 80 others were trapped in Maharashtra
Seven people lost their lives, including six villagers and a rescue team member, when a part of a 550-meter hillock collapsed on a significant portion of the Irshalwadi tribal village near Khalapur in Maharashtra’s Raigad district. The tragic incident occurred late on Wednesday, and 10 individuals were successfully rescued from the slush and debris.
However, approximately 80 people are still feared trapped, leading to a massive rescue operation being conducted urgently to locate and save them. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde personally visited the tragedy site, situated about 100 km from Mumbai, to oversee the situation, while Deputy CM Ajit Pawar remained stationed at the State Disaster Management Centre.
