3 Children Killed in mine blast in Yemen

Three children tragically lost their lives in a mine explosion in Yemen’s northern province of Marib. According to a local government official who spoke anonymously, the incident occurred on Tuesday while the children, all from the same family, were playing near the As-Suwayda camp for displaced people. Accidentally, they triggered a landmine.

As-Suwayda camp is a significant displacement camp in Marib, providing refuge for about 2,000 displaced families. The devastating mine explosion serves as a grim reminder of the dangers civilians, especially children, face amid Yemen’s prolonged civil war.

The country has been heavily affected by landmines, making it one of the most landmine-ridden nations globally. In April, the Yemeni government urgently appealed for international assistance to clear landmines and other explosive remnants of war to protect civilian lives.
