29 Meghalaya Doctors Complete Training in Tamil Nadu Government Hospitals

A group of 29 doctors from Meghalaya has successfully completed a six-month training program in Life-Saving Anaesthetic Skills, Emergency Maternal Obstetric Care, and Ultra Sonogram at government hospitals in Tamil Nadu. The training was conducted at the Institute of Social Obstetrics and Government Kasturba Gandhi Hospital (KGH) for Women and Children in Triplicane, as well as the Institute of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (IOG) and Government Hospital for Women and Children in Egmore.

The training program was organized under a Memorandum of Understanding signed between Tamil Nadu and Meghalaya in September 2022. During the valedictory event, certificates were presented to the doctors by Tamil Nadu’s Health Minister Ma. Subramanian. The training is expected to contribute to reducing maternal and infant mortality rates in Meghalaya. The exchange of knowledge and information between the two states was highlighted as a significant aspect of India’s progress in healthcare.
