25 Patients Die in 24 Hours at Mayo Hospital in Nagpur, Raising Concerns About Maharashtra’s Healthcare System
At least 25 patients lost their lives within a span of 24 hours at Nagpur’s government-run Mayo Hospital, bringing new attention to the state of Maharashtra’s healthcare system. NCP MP Supriya Sule expressed her concerns about these deaths on social media, criticizing the government for what she perceives as a collapsed health system.
She highlighted that top leaders had time to visit New Delhi but not these hospitals. Nagpur is Maharashtra’s second capital and home to several prominent political figures. Furthermore, the death toll at Dr. Shankarrao Chavan Government Medical College and Hospital (Nanded) increased to 35, and at Ghati Hospital (Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar), it rose from 10 to 18. The recent spike in deaths in government hospitals has raised questions about medical supplies and lapses in healthcare.
