In our world money has come to acquire central palace. It is now an axis round which the wheel of life moves. saints and philosophers and many others denounce it. However, the reality is that it has become so powerful and essential that no one can do anything without it.
First of all, money is required to meet our basic needs of food, clothes and shelter. It can purchase all comforts of life. One who has money can build a palatial house, furnish it to his taste buy his favorite gadgets, own a car or a fleet of cars , and others things which have become essential for comfortable living.
Secondly, money provides us a sort of mental peace and solace. Those who have money may pursue spiritual matters better. A mind at ease can pray better. A hungry person or an ailing person who has no money cannot pray. Even if he does, his plea before God is to grant him the boon of wealth so that he may get rid of his sufferings.
Thirdly, money endows on the possessor the power to rule. Only the rich can enter the political arena these days. They wield the real power. They take decisions and enact laws and govern the lives of all.
Therefore money is power. No one can survive without it. Every body requires it. The problem arises only when it becomes an obsession. The lust for money in itself is bad. If a man is able to control his craving for money, he leads a happy and contented life.
We should not condemn the acquisition of money. Money can become a means of better living not only for the self but the others who need it. The only thing is that we should have a healthy and balanced attitude towards it.
