A person without character is just like a flower without fragrance. Exactly as a flower is recognized by its sweet fragrance, the character he bears defines a man. The seminal question is that who, after all, is a man of character? A man who is a slave to his emotions and passions or man who gives up easily? My answer definitely no the definition of good character is some what different. A retrospective glance at the days gone by will bring out the names of some eminent men who bore a sterling character. These men were certainly not slaves to the passions that flesh is heir to. They were forthright men who always stood by the noble values like truth, justice and duty. They lived and died for purity, charity, kindness and self respect. Honestly, integrity and loyalty were their weapons. It is the moral excellence that goes to make a man good and virtuous. Noble and lofty ideals remain meaningless unless they are put into practice. “Life is action not a contemplation.” Character is the substance of man , Gandhiji got the stature of Mahatma because he possessed integrity of character. Gandhiji had full faith in the power of truth. A good hearted , benevolent feeling and a balanced mind lie at the foundation of character. Only individual of morality and integrity can raise a nation to glorious heights. Goethe once remarked character is best formed in the stormy billows of the world. Character is fruit of personal effort. It is not bequeathed as a legacy, it is not created by external advantages, and it is not a necessary appendage of birth wealth and talent. When men of sound character increase, then the population marches towards the pinnacles of prosperity.
