Jagannath Puri Temple

The world-famous Puri Jagannath temple is located in the state of Odisha. The Jagannath Puri temple is a holy temple devoted to Lord Jagannath. Lord Jagannath stays here along with his brother Lord Balabhadra, sister Subhadra and Sudarshan. Lord Jagannath is considered to be a form of Lord Vishnu by the Hindus. The world-famous chariot festival which is also known as the Car Festival or Rathayatra is celebrated every year in Puri. Lakhs of devotees come to witness the Rathayatra festival. The Jagannath temple is one of the four pilgrimage sites of Char Dham in India.

There are some amazing mysteries about the Jagannath temple in Puri. The flag at the top of the Jagannath temple always waves in the opposite direction of the wind blowing. Birds are a common sight in all the temples of India. But it is believed that there are no birds or planes that fly above the Jagannath temple in Puri.

The surprising thing about the Jagannath temple is that the Jagannath temple does not have any shadows.

A 20ft tall Chakra that weighs a ton is located on top of the Jagannath Puri temple. This Chakra is called Sudarshan Chakra and is visible from every single corner of the city. It also seems like the Sudarshan Chakra is always facing us irrespective of our location.

The cooking technique of the Maha Prasad here is a mystery. Pots are used to Cook this Maha Prasad using firewood. Seven pots are used for this and they are placed one on top of the other. The interesting thing about this is that the topmost pot gets cooked first followed by the bottom pots.
