Madipakkam Social Service Trust to celebrate its 350th tree plantation drive week with an eco-marathon on 25 th August 2024

To commemorate the 350th tree plantation drive week, the Chennai based NGO, Madipakkam Social Service Trust (MSS Trust), today announced an eco- marathon for Chennai-ites across all age groups, on August 25th, 2024 at Madipakkam.

Shri Ma. Subramanian, Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Tamil Nadu, virtually unveiled the logo of the green Marathon and applauded MSS Trust’s remarkable contribution towards nurturing a green and healthy environment.

Scheduled between 05:00 AM and 08:30 AM, the green run will witness children, youngsters, both men and women, and the elderly partake in 1 Km, 3 Kms and 5 Kms distance categories, where the top finishers will receive prizes under various categories, whilst others will receive the certificates of participation.

In its mission to expand the green cover in the city, the MSS Trust has diligently and passionately conducted tree plantation drives for over seven plus years in and around the areas of Madipakkam,  Puzhudhivakkam, Moovarasampettai, Velachery, Sunnaambu Kulathur and Pallikkaranai, that includes 5 water bodies and 50 plus residential complexes.

The MSS Trust has also joined hands with other like- minded volunteer groups to clean and revive two big water bodies in the city.

With over 7500 trees successfully planted & maintained till date, the 60 plus volunteers continue to come together every weekend to plant and nurture more trees with love and dedication, and pave the way for a greener and sustainable future.
