Kauvery Hospital, Radial Road, Successfully Performed First Kidney Transplant

Kauvery Hospital, Radial Road, performed its first kidney transplant proceduresuccessfully on21st February. This marks yet another significant milestone in the hospital’s capabilities to offer life-changing treatments to patients.

The recipient, a 42-year-old lady, was on dialysis for over four years due to end-stage renal failure. She had familial kidney diseaseand her brotherhad undergone kidney transplant with their mother as the donor. Since she did not have another donor in the family, she was put on the hospital’s deceased donor waiting list.The patient underwent a kidney transplant procedure last month, thanks to the generous donation of a kidney from a deceased donor at Kauvery Hospital, Radial Road.

The team of acclaimed transplant physicians and surgeons, including Dr Muthu Kumar P, Dr Karthikeyan B, Dr Raja R, Dr Pradeepkumar K and Dr MuthuVeeramani,performed the procedure. Following the surgery, the patientrecovered well and her renal function has been effectively restored. After discharge from the hospital, shehas regained the strength to perform her daily activities normallyand no longer requires dialysis.
