Global Virtual Endurance event to Save lives “ ALERTATHON 2021 ”, Concludes Successfully
~ The Two days event saw 2434 Participants from 10 countries covering 19073 Km by Run / Walk/ Ride ~
Chennai, September 13th, 2021: ALERT a voluntary non-profit organisation that works towards a better emergency response ecosystem in India to save lives, organised the seventh edition of “ALERTATHON 2021” – a Global Virtual Endurance event with a mission to “Save Lives” in Chennai. The two days Alertathon was flagged off by Guest of Honour Prof. Dr. Velraj, Vice-Chancellor, Anna University. The event was also graced by Dr. Iyappan Ponnuswamy, Medical Director, Kauvery Hospitals and Rtn. J Sridhar, District Governor, RID 3232 as Special Guests. ALERTATHON 2021 is a virtual event in which participants run or walk or ride a cycle any number of miles across the 2 days at their convenience trackable through a virtual platform.
Alertathon 2021 saw 2434 participants from India, Australia, Belgium, China, Denmark, France, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, and the USA. The total Distance covered by participants during Alertathon 2021 was 19073km, Run/Walk – 6343km, Ride – 12730 km. The maximum distance covered by an individual participant is 80km by walk / Run and 275km by Ride. Alertathon, in its new avatar, helps in binding everyone in spirit to pledge their support to the mission of saving lives. Like in all editions, participants have an opportunity to learn various first aid and life-saving skills through a series of webinar sessions and web educational content as well.
Commenting on the success of the Alertathon 2021, Mr. Mike, Chairman, Alert NGO, said “ I am glad to see the huge participants for Alertathon 2021 not only from India but also from 9 other countries even during the most difficult situation and I now experience a very strong togetherness from all those involved in a mission to save lives ” The closing ceremony of Alertathon was attended by Dr. Prakash, Managing Director, STAR Health Insurance and Mr. Ashok R, President, Schindler India, Ms Kala Balasundaram, Founder, ALERT and Mr Rajesh R Trivedi, Co-Founder & Managing Trustee, ALERT
Participants will receive Medals, Certificates and T-Shirts based on their preference.
