GEM Hospital organizes HERNIA CARNIVAL 2020

3 Day International Conference on Minimal Access Hernia Surgery

    More than 700 delegates participates from across the globe

Chennai, 5th March 2020: GEM Hospitals, pioneers in minimally invasive surgery – laparoscopic & robotic surgeries, and India’s leading Bariatric Surgical Centre is organizing HERNIA CARNIVAL 2020 – A three day International Conference on Minimal Access Hernia Surgery from 5th – 7th March 2020. Prof. R.Venkataswami, President, Gandhiniketan Ashram, Chennai inaugurated the conference today in the presence of Thiru G.Prakash, IASSpecial Officer & Commissioner, Greater Chennai Corporation and Dr Shiva K Misra, Vice President – National Board of Examinations, Honorary Professor – Indian Medical Association.

More than 700 delegates and International faculties are participating in the conference. Doctors of international repute from all over the globe will be sharing their knowledge with the present delegates and Live surgeries are also planned during all 3days of the conference.

Dr. C. Palanivelu, Chairman, GEM Hospitals said that, “This Grand Hernia Carnival is an opportunity to witness all minimally invasive techniques in hernia surgery. This conference will help Surgeons to innovate, build, apply and refine techniques enabling an unleashing feast to their knowledge. This conference aims at trying to update the surgeons regarding the recent innovations in the field, to train the new surgeons in laparoscopic hernia surgery, to try to answer the doubts that are encountered in day to day practice and to deal with unexpected scenarios”.

“Various complex hernias patients, who had failed multiple operations in the past have been fixed in a minimally invasive way in our hospital. We have a separate team of doctors at GEM Hospital who are dedicated for dealing such complex and large hernias. For some patients the hernia is so large that there abdomen cannot accommodate the entire hernial content which has been lying outside for long duration. Special strategies are being adopted like progressive pneumoperitoneum and/or intramuscular injection of Botox to prepare the abdomen to accommodate the massive herniated contents, in addition to muscular release operation known as component separation techniques for large hernias”, he added.

 

Speaking on the Occasion, Dr S Asokan, Director-CEO, GEM Hospital Chennai stated, The highlights of the conference shall be Live surgical workshops, the Orations by the masters in the field, Video sessions of the latest techniques, etc.  The intention of this Conference is to create a New Learning Experience, where we aim to introduce emotional learning in addition to intelligence and knowledge based learning. This summit will be a remarkable attempt where all the Asia pacific societies come together to create a master book on standardizing the Clinical Care Pathways.
