Tamil Nadu Achieves Record Renewable Energy Generation This Summer
This summer, Tamil Nadu’s renewable energy generation soared, surpassing the 50% mark with April reaching a record 52%. Tangedco, the State electricity utility, reported significant contributions from wind, solar, hydro, and cogeneration sources, culminating in an unprecedented renewable energy output.
From March to June, the State produced 24,530 MUs of renewable energy out of a total of 48,835 MUs. The state’s renewable capacity stands at 18,300 MW, contributing significantly during high-demand periods, such as the 20,830 MW peak on May 2, the State has successfully leveraged clean energy to meet its soaring power needs.
