Indonesia’s Revived Import Duty Plans
Indonesia is set to implement substantial safeguard duties ranging from 100% to 200% on imports including footwear, clothing, textiles, cosmetics, and ceramics, aiming to protect its domestic industries. Trade Minister Zulkifli Hasan emphasized the need to shield micro, small, and medium enterprises from being overwhelmed by foreign goods, signaling a robust stance to support local production and economic stability amid global trade pressures.
The move follows previous regulatory adjustments aimed at balancing the influx of imported goods with the needs of domestic industries, illustrating Indonesia’s proactive approach to managing its trade policy landscape.
