Chennai Metro Rail’s Ambitious Plans for MRTS Stations Revamp

Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) is gearing up for a comprehensive overhaul of all Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) stations in the capital city, aiming to enhance commuter experience and improve facilities. With plans to submit a detailed project report within 4-5 months, CMRL will address deficiencies in amenities such as escalators, lifts, and maintenance services.

Additionally, the report will focus on optimizing station space and promoting commercial development in the surrounding areas, ensuring convenient access for commuters. While awaiting approval from the Railway Board for the takeover of MRTS, CMRL is proactively preparing for the transition, emphasizing gradual improvements and efficient utilization of station resources.
