In response to a recent attack on Chinese engineers, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has implemented new security measures mandating Chinese citizens to travel with armoured vehicles while in the region. This decision was announced by Deputy Inspector General of Police Tahir Ayub Khan during a meeting on May 1. The meeting, focusing on security arrangements for the Suki Kinari hydropower project, underscored the need for stringent security protocols to safeguard the lives of those involved in critical infrastructure projects.

Inspections at project sites emphasized the construction of high boundary walls for residential colonies housing Chinese engineers and workers, demonstrating the government’s commitment to ensuring their safety. These measures come in the aftermath of a suicide attack on a convoy of Chinese engineers working on the Dasu hydropower project, prompting authorities to enhance security measures and protect foreign nationals in the region.
