South Korea Raises Diplomatic Alert Levels Amid North Korea Threats

South Korea’s foreign ministry has raised the terrorism alert level for five of its diplomatic offices in the region, citing intelligence indicating possible threats from North Korea. The affected locations include Seoul’s embassies in Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam, as well as consulates in Vladivostok, Russia, and Shenyang, China.

The alert level was raised from Attention to Alert, indicating a strong possibility of an attack. South Korea’s National Intelligence Service (NIS) reported indications that North Korea is preparing terrorist attacks against South Korean diplomatic officers and citizens. The NIS also mentioned that Pyongyang has dispatched agents to tighten surveillance of South Korean missions in these countries.
