Airspace Closure Causes Major Delays at Oslo Airport

A technical glitch forced aviation authorities to close the airspace over southern Norway, leading to significant delays at Oslo airport on April 25. The closure, caused by a technical error at the Oslo Control Center, resulted in major restrictions on air traffic. Although the airspace was gradually reopened after more than three hours, delays persisted throughout the day, affecting both domestic and international flights.

Avinor, Norway’s state-owned airport operator, prioritized long-haul flights during the disruption. With about 25 million passengers annually, Oslo International Airport is the largest in Norway and a key hub in Scandinavia, alongside Copenhagen and Stockholm airports, all managed by Avinor.
