Chennai Metro Rail’s Phase II Project Sparks Concerns Over Structural Integrity
As Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) undertakes tunnelling and station construction work for the Phase II Project, residents of Mandaveli, particularly those in Raja Street, express mounting concerns over structural integrity. Instances of blocked sewer pipelines, foam leakage from meter boxes, and cracks appearing on house walls have stirred anxiety among locals.
Despite prompt responses from officials in resolving issues, residents remain apprehensive about the potential impact on building foundations. The lack of transparency regarding the project’s consequences exacerbates residents’ worries, prompting calls for enhanced precautionary measures from CMRL. Officials assure that preventive measures, including shallow depth grouting and compensation grouting, will be implemented to mitigate future risks and address existing concerns.
