Record Gross Earnings and Passenger Numbers for SCR’s Vijayawada Division

In the 2023-24 fiscal year, the Vijayawada division of the South Central Railway (SCR) achieved remarkable milestones, recording a gross earning of ₹5,614.13 crore, marking the highest in its history. The division also witnessed a surge in originating passengers, totaling 63.473 million, which is a notable 3.18% increase from the previous fiscal year.

Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Narendra A. Patil attributed this success to outstanding performance across various streams, including freight loading and passenger transportation. Notably, 72% of the total earnings were generated from freight loading, while 24% came from passenger transportation. Additionally, the division laid new lines covering a stretch of 84.86 km and operated an average of 186 freight trains and 85,354 coaching trains per day. Moreover, the Vijayawada railway station was honored with the ‘Best Tourist Friendly Station’ award, further highlighting the division’s exceptional achievements.
