Jaishankar Delivers Modi’s Condolences to Akie Abe

During his visit to Tokyo, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met with Akie Abe, the wife of Japan’s late Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, and conveyed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s condolences on the recent passing of Mrs Yoko Abe, the late PM’s mother.

Mr. Jaishankar recalled Shinzo Abe’s significant contributions to strengthening India-Japan relations, highlighting his role in landmark initiatives such as the bilateral civil nuclear deal and the India-Japan Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement. Shinzo Abe’s untimely demise in 2022 marked the loss of an outstanding leader who prioritized deepening strategic ties with India, leaving behind a legacy of visionary leadership and transformative initiatives.
