North Chennai Thermal Power Project Stage 3 Nears Completion Amid Final Testing Phase
As the final stage of testing commences for the North Chennai Thermal Power Project Stage 3, Tamil Nadu anticipates a significant boost in power production for the state. Despite delays attributed to lockdowns during the COVID-19 pandemic, the 800-megawatt supercritical thermal power project is nearing completion, with synchronization of units already achieved in January.
The pending completion certificate from the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change is the remaining hurdle, following which Chief Minister M.K. Stalin will inaugurate the plant for commercial operation. Once operational, the plant, equipped with advanced features like reduced fuel consumption and environmental friendliness, is expected to generate 1.92 crore units of power daily and reduce dependence on external power purchases.
