Government Prioritizes Full Functionality of AIIMS and Recruitment
Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya highlighted the government’s commitment to providing comprehensive tertiary care within individual states through fully functional All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). Mandaviya informed the Lok Sabha that recruitment efforts have been ongoing, with approximately 29,000 positions filled across various AIIMS in the last six months.
Stressing inclusive hiring practices, he noted that rotations include vacancies for SC/ST and OBC categories. The government’s objective is to ensure the optimal operation of all AIIMS establishments, prioritizing quality healthcare services at the state level. Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Bharati Pravin Pawar addressed delays in land acquisition for the AIIMS in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, affirming that despite setbacks, progress is underway with budget revisions, finalization of master plans, and tender awards. Speaker Om Birla also paid tribute to former members Harmohan Dhawan and Rubab Sayeda, observing a moment of silence in their memory during the session.
