PM Modi Praises Manmohan Singh’s Contribution to Rajya Sabha During Farewell Address
During a farewell address to retiring members of the Rajya Sabha, Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded the contribution of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to the House. Modi specifically highlighted Singh’s dedication to democracy by recounting an instance where Singh came to vote in the Rajya Sabha despite being in a wheelchair.
In a humorous tone, Modi thanked Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge for presenting a “black paper” against his government, referring to it as a “kaala teeka” amid the positive work being carried out. He also made a playful remark about opposition MPs wearing black robes as a form of protest in the House, humorously referring to it as a “fashion parade.”
Modi extended his best wishes to all retiring members and expressed hope that their experiences would benefit future generations. Sixty-eight members of the Rajya Sabha are set to retire between February and May after completing their term.
