Sharmila’s Statewide Tour Garners Attention and Security Concerns
Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Y.S. Sharmila embarks on a statewide tour, engaging in ‘rachabanda’ and public meetings across various districts starting February 7. The tour schedule, released by the party, outlines her itinerary, including addresses in Guntur, Eluru, East Godavari, Kakinada, Anakapalli, Alluri Sitharama Raju district, and Chittoor.
However, concerns arise regarding her security, prompting a delegation led by working president Sk. Mastan Vali to meet with Director General of Police (DGP) K.V. Rajendranath Reddy. The APCC delegation urges an increase in security cover for Sharmila, citing a reduction in her security detail from 4+4 to 1+1 since assuming the APCC presidency.
They argue that this reduction appears politically motivated, given her vocal stance on issues affecting the state’s populace. Additionally, the delegation highlights the need to address online trolling and character assassination attempts against Sharmila, calling for swift action against perpetrators aiming to tarnish the Congress party’s image.
