CM Siddaramaiah Urges Karnataka MPs to Join Protest in Delhi
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has penned letters to all Members of Parliament (MPs) from Karnataka, urging them to participate in the ‘Delhi Chalo’ protest against what he termed as “financial atrocities” committed by the Central Government on the people of Karnataka. The protest, scheduled for February 7 at Jantar Mantar in Delhi, will see the Chief Minister leading the charge, joined by Congress legislators, ministers, and MP D.K. Suresh.
The State Government has taken out full-page advertisements in major newspapers to publicize the event. Among the 28 Lok Sabha MPs from Karnataka, 25 belong to the BJP, one each to Congress and JD(S), while Sumalatha Ambareesh is an independent representing Mandya. The appeal also extends to Rajya Sabha members from Karnataka, including Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
The Chief Minister, along with Congress MLAs and MLCs, will depart for Delhi on February 6 to participate in the protest, highlighting alleged injustices in fund allocation and project permissions from the Centre. Siddaramaiah emphasized the State’s loss of ₹1.87 lakh crore during the tenure of the 15th Finance Commission due to reduced Central grants and called for corrective measures.
