Iranian Foreign Minister Visits Pakistan for Talks Amid Tensions
Iran’s Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir-Abdolahian, is set to engage in “in-depth” discussions with his Pakistani counterpart, Jalil Abbas Jilani, in Islamabad. The visit follows recent military strikes exchanged between the two nations targeting alleged terrorist bases on both sides of their border.
Despite the potential for armed conflict, tensions were de-escalated when Iran refrained from retaliating after Pakistan conducted precision military strikes in response to Tehran’s actions. The talks aim to address the recent hostilities and strengthen diplomatic ties. However, concerns persist, highlighted by the killing of nine Pakistani laborers in Iran’s Sistan-Baluchistan province, underscoring the delicate nature of the relationship between the neighboring nations.
