Fog Disrupts Flight Operations in Delhi

Over the last 10 hours, Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport witnessed delays in more than 110 international and domestic flights, with approximately 25 flights being canceled due to thick fog enveloping the city, according to airport sources. The meteorological department reported a drop in visibility at Palam to 300 meters at 11 p.m. on Tuesday, persisting through the night, and reaching 600 meters by 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

The fog, classified by the IMD into four intensities—shallow, moderate, dense, and very dense—disrupted normal operations, especially affecting flights. While the latest satellite pictures indicated a reduction in fog over certain regions, dense fog persisted over parts of Punjab, Haryana, West Uttar Pradesh, and northwest Rajasthan, expected to continue for a few more hours, as per the IMD’s tweet at 8:30 a.m.
